New Video: Leo loves... falling monkey!!

There is all this talk that cartoons like Tom & Jerry or Roadrunner and Coyote teach kids that pushing someone off a cliff or otherwise hurting them is funny. Well, Leo never watched any of those and he still thinks that Monkey falling of from a big height is hilarious!

New Pictures: Leo weeks 43 and 44

These two weeks Nono Davor and Nana Stamenka were here to help us out while Tea was travelling on missions and I was in NYC teaching. Leo LOVED them! I have to admit Tea and I were, naturally, a bit anxious about leaving Leo, but his grandparents were so great any fears quickly disappeared!

The days we were all there were really nice, and Leo loved having more family around, and would crawl around grinning from ear to ear :)

In the photo gallery you'll also find a photo-shoot of Leo in the crib, courtesy of Davor, where the little man demonstrates his acting skills!

That and his impersonation of 1980s tennis bad-boy John McEnroe  :)

Enough said, enjoy the pictures!

Trip to the Zoo Lights

Last night we went to "Zoo Lights", a festival-of-sorts organized by the Zoo, where they put up all these Christmas lights along the main path and people come after it's gone dark. It was a really nice stroll, we met up with the Dannons with Violet and Madalina, Aris and Alexis, had some hot chocolate and funnel cake (yum!), but unfortunately it seems Leo and Violet were a bit cold despite many layers of clothing. I guess we'll know next time to dress the little man even warmer!

New Pictures: Leo week 41

It's been a while since we posted pictures! And a lot has happened. Leo is becoming such a happy chappy and it's a pleasure to hang out with him. We have some really cute pictures, like the one above of our smiley boy. Also he is  becoming quite fashionable, with clothes arriving from all parts of the globe. Below, see him wearing boots knit by his great grand mother Maja.

Then there was Thanksgiving where Leo was joined by baby Martino and some good friends and enjoyed a delicious dinner.

And finally we had grandparents Stamenka and Davor visiting while Tea went to Germany and Jamaica. They have been having fun with their grandson and Leo really loves them!

New Pictures: Leo in Puerto Rico

Leo had a great time in Puerto Rico (as did his parents!) In the picture above you can see Leo having a great time in his temporary crib which was placed in between our bed and a full size mirror.  He had the view of himself on one side and his parents on the other and this kept him quite entertained.
Leo loved the beach and got to play in the sand, the ocean AND the pool. He really enjoyed the different textures and especially the waves.
On the day of his wedding, Ondrej still took a few minutes to stop by the pool and say hello to his guests. The whole wedding weekend was great! Thanks Ondrej and Sara!! We hope we can come again to Puerto Rico and spend some more time together in this wonderful place.

Leo loved the pool, especially being thrown in the air by tata, while his mama was not around!!

At the wedding party the guests got straw beach hats which were really fun to dance with!!

New Pictures: Leo Weeks 39 and 40

We found that Leo looks good in hats, so we tried Mama's hat collection.  We found that he should stick to male hats since this one makes him look like a girl.

Every morning, Leo says "Good morning Q-street!" though the window in his room and the tradition is to also give a good morning kiss to the jade birds hanging in his window. For now, Leo still doesn't know how to kiss, most you get is a slobbery lick or his new thing is to bite!

Leo's new toy truck has been a hit with Leo and Violet but also but also with some older friends - here our friend Haik is trying to explain to Leo what is this green thing attached to a wire (an old fashioned phone!)

Auntie Ruti came for a visit and helped us make chestnut soup. Whole foods had chestnuts on sale. So we had the great idea to buy raw chestnuts, roast them, peel them and then cook and puree them. Although the result was great, we are not sure it was worth the 2+ hour preparation!

New Video: Leo loves balloons

Having just came back from Sara and Ondrej's wedding in Puerto Rico we have a lot of good pictures, but they'll take a lot of time to sort through. In the meantime, enjoy Leo discovering the joys of a helium-filled balloon :)

Leo drives his first car!

Yesterday we went to visit Ksenija and celebrate Lulu's 1st birthday, and we had a lot of fun, great food and an amazing cake. Leo met all these new babies and kids, and found a toy of Lulu's that he liked, and since she had outgrown Leo got it as a present! And so here he is, setting his Ferrari up the sweeping right-hand-corer of Eau Rouge at Spa :)

New Pictures: Leo Weeks 37 and 38

Last week it was Halloween, and Leo dressed up like a little tiger. Logan Circle Moms organized a parade that went from 17th Street down P street all the way to Logan circle. Whole Foods had trick or treat stations for the kids.  Violet slept most of the parade, and Leo was a little bit overwhelmed by the crowds. But there were lots of cute babies in cool outfits and it was a beautiful day. It was great, given that the day before it snowed and rained all day!

We also had some visitors last week. Bryan and Peter came for brunch. It was nice to catch up with them.  We also had to say good bye to our friend Santi who is moving on to greener pastures - going back home to Colombia.

Life's been great with Cheryl, the babies continue to adore her, and she is still excited to see them every morning. Last week Baby Mossi joined, as did Anaiah last Friday.  Leo really likes the older kids!

On Friday Leo had to get a flu shot and so Kriss brought him to the IFC to cheer up.  Leo visited the DB office and was an instant hit!

New Video: Leo stands up!

Leo has been really energetic of late, crawling everywhere and pushing us to hurry our baby-proofing efforts (including putting baby-locks on drawers, cabinet doors, cleaning up electrical cables etc). And now that he's finally achieved mobility Leo wants the next big step - to stand up and, eventually, to walk. As you can see below his efforts to stand up are a bit reminiscent of Bambi standing up for the first time, but hey, he manages :)

Leo goes shopping for winter clothes

So far he likes a lot of comfy long socks :)

Leo loves his new booties

Leo got a special package yesterday from France, and in this package he got very special booties... from Manchuria, China! Thanks you Nana Stamenka!

Baby Mossi joins Leo and Violet for the day

Baby Mossi joined Leo and Violet for the day, I'm sure they'll have a great time and learn a lot since Mossi (14 months) already walks around!

New Video: Leo's midday yoghurt snack

Over the past couple of weeks we really increased Leo's intake of solids, to the point that now he eats almost as much solids as he does milk/formula. Other than the good Dr. Van Vleck's suggestions what really provided us with a clear signal was when we were in Michigan and Auntie Ruti got Leo jars of fruit yoghurt, and he would inhale one whole such jar in one sitting! Here's a video of a healthy baby eating some fruit yoghurt as a midday snack.

New Video: Leo crawling!

It's taken the little guy a while but it seems he's finally figured out that to crawl successfully you actually need to lift your hands off the ground :) And now that he has we can forget about putting the baby down to quietly play by himself for 15 minutes...

New Video (from Michigan): Leo on the plane

New Video (from Michigan): Leo at the playground

New Video (from Michigan): Leo learns history from Thomas Edison!

It may be a cheesy show put up for kids but guess what - Leo loved listening to Thomas Edison and so did Kriss, as the stuff he was saying was actually surprisingly detailed and scientifically accurate!

New pictures: Leo in Michigan

See the full gallery here

Finally we got around to cleaning out and arranging our pictures from our trip to Michigan. We really chose the best weekend to go, as is spite of our earlier worries the weather was absolutely beautiful and warm, while the whole of Michigan was in the middle of a beautiful yellow/orange/brown fall foliage season.

On Friday we hang out with Ruti in Detroit, checked out her favorite Italian pizzeria and then went with Kirill to his place in Royal Oak (one of the suburbs of Detroit). On Saturday morning we went for a brunch in Birmingham (another suburb), where we had a celebrity spotting - Zach Braff from Scrubs. After spending some time playing in the local park (and Leo making yet another girl friend :) we went to the "Ford Village", a heritage park next to the Ford factory, where we saw a choo choo, got to meet Thomas Edison (!) and watched Ford Model-Ts drive around as taxis.

Saturday afternoon we drove to Ann Arbor, a small city (large town?) that's home to University of Michigan, where Ruti is finishing her PhD. It's a gorgeous place, especially in the fall, and we enjoyed a nice evening of food and drinks.

On Sunday we started the day off by going to a petting farm, where Leo met his first non-dog animals. As you'll see, some where more easy to pet than others, but we had a great time and Leo even went on a hay-ride behind a tractor with Tea and Ruti! We then went for brunch to the famous Zingermann's and did some shopping around Ann Arbor's arts market, before going for a walk in the arboretum that's just behing UoM's medical campus and having a mini-picnic.

Ruti, Kirill - thanks for the hospitality!!
