New Video: Leo's midday yoghurt snack

Over the past couple of weeks we really increased Leo's intake of solids, to the point that now he eats almost as much solids as he does milk/formula. Other than the good Dr. Van Vleck's suggestions what really provided us with a clear signal was when we were in Michigan and Auntie Ruti got Leo jars of fruit yoghurt, and he would inhale one whole such jar in one sitting! Here's a video of a healthy baby eating some fruit yoghurt as a midday snack.

New Video: Leo crawling!

It's taken the little guy a while but it seems he's finally figured out that to crawl successfully you actually need to lift your hands off the ground :) And now that he has we can forget about putting the baby down to quietly play by himself for 15 minutes...

New Video (from Michigan): Leo on the plane

New Video (from Michigan): Leo at the playground

New Video (from Michigan): Leo learns history from Thomas Edison!

It may be a cheesy show put up for kids but guess what - Leo loved listening to Thomas Edison and so did Kriss, as the stuff he was saying was actually surprisingly detailed and scientifically accurate!

New pictures: Leo in Michigan

See the full gallery here

Finally we got around to cleaning out and arranging our pictures from our trip to Michigan. We really chose the best weekend to go, as is spite of our earlier worries the weather was absolutely beautiful and warm, while the whole of Michigan was in the middle of a beautiful yellow/orange/brown fall foliage season.

On Friday we hang out with Ruti in Detroit, checked out her favorite Italian pizzeria and then went with Kirill to his place in Royal Oak (one of the suburbs of Detroit). On Saturday morning we went for a brunch in Birmingham (another suburb), where we had a celebrity spotting - Zach Braff from Scrubs. After spending some time playing in the local park (and Leo making yet another girl friend :) we went to the "Ford Village", a heritage park next to the Ford factory, where we saw a choo choo, got to meet Thomas Edison (!) and watched Ford Model-Ts drive around as taxis.

Saturday afternoon we drove to Ann Arbor, a small city (large town?) that's home to University of Michigan, where Ruti is finishing her PhD. It's a gorgeous place, especially in the fall, and we enjoyed a nice evening of food and drinks.

On Sunday we started the day off by going to a petting farm, where Leo met his first non-dog animals. As you'll see, some where more easy to pet than others, but we had a great time and Leo even went on a hay-ride behind a tractor with Tea and Ruti! We then went for brunch to the famous Zingermann's and did some shopping around Ann Arbor's arts market, before going for a walk in the arboretum that's just behing UoM's medical campus and having a mini-picnic.

Ruti, Kirill - thanks for the hospitality!!

Happy 8th monthday Leo!

Brunch time!

Gorgeous fall weather, happy sleeping baby, Rosemary's Thyme brunch - what better way to start your Sunday?

Leo's 8 month visit to the doctor

On Friday we went for Leo's 8 month check-up on Friday and it all went great - Leo is in perfect shape, developing well and remains tall and lean. He impressed the doctor with his happy demeanor, and only cried for some 15sec after he got his shots.

The biggest pointer from the good Dr Van Vleck for the coming months is that we should start broadening Leo's solids diet beyond fruit, vegetables and yoghurt, as he's now ready to eat anything we eat. Think about it - anything we eat! Chicken tikka? Blend, give to Leo. Pasta with sausage and veggies? Blend, give to Leo. Pasta Bolognese?... you get the point. If he'll really eat anything we cook it will provide an always welcome nudge towards healthy fresh foods - somehow blended cheese pizza does not sound like nutritious baby dinner ;) Of course there are some things we should avoid for now (fish, shellfish, eggs, nuts, honey) but that's pretty much it.

New video: Leo playing with Mama

Leo is a great baby for many reasons, but one of the top ones is that he's very happy and loves playing with his parents! Here are some shots of Leo playing with Tea:

New video: Leo has a hard time waking up

The first video is Leo in the morning - what we usually do is get him out of his crib once he wakes up, change his diaper, give him medication and then we put him down in his play area for ~30 min before we can feed him (because of the medication). Most of the time he's super excited about it, and loves playing with his blocks, books etc. But then sometimes there are mornings like this, when our little prince has a very hard time waking up:

Leo loves his Petit Beurre!

Just like Tea when she was a baby (and Tata when he was a bigger kid) Leo has really taken to Petit Beurre cookies!

New Pictures: Leo's 31st and 32nd weeks

Check out the full gallery here

As the weather got colder we started going out with Leo less and less, although it also gave Tea the chance to dress Leo up in big-boy long-sleeve outfits which she loves! Check out some pictures from the 17th Street Festival, and a ton of other pictures just overflowing with cuteness :)
