We are moving!!

On March 1, we are moving to Capitol Hill and leaving our lovely apartment in Logan Circle! But also, we are migrating our updates to Facebook as we have found it easier to upload photos and videos and share it with our friends and family.

So we have created a profile for Leo Aleksandar Wozniak on Facebook, please add him as your friend and you will be able to continue following his adventures as a toddler!

New video: Leo's first swimming lesson

Leo had his first swim lesson yesterday and it went swimmingly :) Leo immediately felt comfortably in the water, although being held up by Mama he's not quite as comfortable as he is in his bathtub... yet!

We have been pushing forward with introducing new foods into Leo's diet, not least his transition to finger foods. To that end, when we get a chance, we give him cut-up fishsticks, toast, pasta and broccoli cakes for babies. Right now they serve better as snacks (when Leo takes one at a time while playing) rather than a whole meal (he usually gives up rather quickly and starts playing with the pieces), but we're sticking to it and hopefully soon he'll be eating sandwiches as Dr Van Vleck promised :)

Another thing we're introducing is cow's milk and drinking from a cup - as you can see it's going rather well"

Oh, and Leo would also like to say "hvala" to Nana Stamenka for the postcard from Barbados!

The first tooth that's growing up top is on the side, making Leo look like a baby vampire :)

Ever since he's learned how to crawl quickly Leo mostly lost interest in trying to walk, but when he's in the mood he manages quite well as you can see:

Of all the comfy chairs and sofas in our apartment what did Leo choose as his "go-to place" for watching TV? Nowhere is more secure, comfortable and warm than in Mama's lap!

Leo's also been discovering new household objects that he can have fun with when he gests bored of his normal toys. Since we came back from Poland ripping up tissues, taking out every single possible book from the bookshelf and going through trash has joined the list that previously was headed by playing with the bathtub.

Also, since we came back from Poland we've managed to put Leo back on the good sleeping - he now goes to sleep on his own in his bedroom, listening to lullabies, and either sleeps through the night or wakes up just once (we then give him water first, and only if he's still fussy does he get a bit of milk).

2 New Videos: Leo climbs stairs and Leo is persistent!

Two videos from our visit to our friend Rafał's back in Poland, when Leo not only showed off his climbing skills on the steps but also demonstrated his persistance when trying to do something (in this case: play with the laptop)

P.S. Got to love Rafał's equal persistance in pulling Leo back every time he goes for the laptop - only years of parental training will teach you this! :)

New Video: Leo starts clapping

Leo finally figured out how to clap his hands this weekend - the first time it happened was on a Skype chat with Dziadziuś Piotruś as Leo was giving him best wishes on the Polish Grandpa Day. But since then he's been clapping pretty much whenever he gets excited (here: watching the trailer for Disney's Mulan :)

Leo gets his first LEGO blocks!

And like his Tata and Mama when they were small he loves them!

"Just you wait and see what I build in a couple of months!"

OK, so maybe they're not exactly LEGO blocks (they're actually Megablocks), but I looked and it turns out it's impossible to buy DUPLO bricks for under 1.5 years of age, and they're all some sort of funky shapes anyway - seems LEGO no longer sells simply big boxes of rectangular blocks...

Leo signs up for swim classes!

Starting in February, Mama or Tata will go with Leo to the swimming pool at the DC JCC (Jewish Community Center) once a week on Saturdays as part of the "Little Flippers" class that teaches babies 4-18 months old how to swim! Can't wait, we're sure Leo will love it given his love for water!

Leo is ready to be shipped off to his grandparents!

Leo made it very clear to us: if we don't do what he wants (i.e. pick him up every time, give him food at night, let him rip pages out of magazines) he is ready to ship himself to greener pastures with his grandparents! :)
